How do Pokemon Grow Stronger.

   As you progress through the game, and battle, your Pokemon will gain Experience Ponits, you can gain experience points by three simple ways:

   a) Defeating Wild Pokemon, when you faint a wild Pokemon, all tof your Pokemons involved in the fight will recieve a share of the experience earned. In Generation 6, you also gain experience by capturing Pokemon.

   b) Battling Trainers, usually battling trainer Pokemons give a bit more Experience Points than just battling with wild ones, but it's also a bit more challenging.

   c) Leaving your Pokemon at the Day Care, when you leave your Pokemon at the Day Care, they'll get experience points based on the amount of steps you take, the more steps you take, the more experience your Pokemon get, this has a small drawback though, they charge you 100 Poke for evey Level your Pokemon grows and the base rate is 100 Poke.

   When they gather a certain amount of experience, your Pokemon will Level Up, when Leveling Up your Pokemons Stats grow, the stats of your Pokemons are divided into HP (Hit Points), Atk (Attack), Def (Defense), Spe. Atk (Special Attack), Spe. Def (Special Defense) and Speed, This Stats are the values your Pokemon has in that field, the higher the value the better the Stat. As well as this, your Pokemon may also learn new moves, a Pokemon can only have 4 moves at a time, and when learning a new one, you can choose whether to keep your old moves or to delete an old to make space.

   Some Pokemon when reached a determined Level will evolve, but they can also evolve by performing certain special actions, or when met a specific criteria, when Pokemon evolve they gain a big boost to their Stats as well as changing form, you can of course cancel the evolution for some reasons, for example a basic Pokemon will learn a certain move at a lower level than its evolution, but other times only the evolutions get certain moves, it is up to you to decide if you want or not to evolve. and also, sometimes the evolution gain another typing to them, but since I haven't told you what Typings are, please read this next article: Pokemon Typing Matchups

How to Catch a Pokemon.

   Even though you and your Rival recieve a starter Pokemon in the beginning of the game, you can't go on such a big journey with only one Pokemon, and your Rival won't do it either, you have to catch more Pokemons!

   You can find Pokemons in different places and eaach place has a different diversity of them and you can find them in various ways, the most usual way is to walk on tall grass, but you can also encounter them while walking on caves, fishing or even surfing, special Pokemons are set as static encounters and they don't change, when you find a wild Pokemon you'll engage in a battle. At the start, catching Pokemons is a fairly easy thing to do, but as you progress through the game the catches become more difficult and rarer, as for what you use to catch Pokemon are called PokeBalls, these have variants and each one has more chances to catch Pokemons.

   The harder the Pokemon is to catch depends on several things:

   a) Its Catch Rate, every Pokemon has a base catch rate and the lower it is the harder the catch.

   b) The Amount of HP it has, the more HP the Pokemon has the harder it is going to be to catch, so lowering the Hp before trying to  catch the Pokemon increases your chances of getting it.

   c) The PokeBall you are using, the standard PokeBall is good for the simple tasks, but for other works we also have Great Balls and for even harder works use Ultra Balls, we also have more PokeBalls more specialized which I cover in this article.

   d) The Status you inflict on the Pokemon you are trying to catch makes it easier to capture, the most effective ones are Sleep and Freeze, and then Paralysis, Burn and Posion.

   Now that  you know how to catch a Pokemon let's look at how to make your Pokemon grow stronger in Part 3

Getting Started.

   Pokemon is a fighting strategy game inhabited by creatures called Pokemon (short for Pocket Monster), these creatures are the center of whole game, they have different typings depending on the Pokemon and these typings have strenghts and weaknesses, as you advance through the game your Pokemons will grow stronger and the challenges as well, the whole point of the game is simply to: 

   a) Beat the Pokemon Gym Challenge, in which you'll have to travel the region meeting new Pokemons, trainers and cities, find the Gyms and beat their leaders in order to recieve a badge showing that you conquered that Gym, each reagion has 8 Gyms and each one is completly different from the others.

   b) Beat your Rival, along your travel you will have a Rival, he or she battles you along the way to test your skills and try to beat you.

   c) Defeat the Bad Guys, each reagion has a Bad team which plans to rule the world or conquer the Region, whichever their master plan is, your job as the protagonist is to defeat them by eventually beating their Leader.

   d) Become the Champion of your Region, once you clear the Pokemon Gym Challenge and you defeat the Bad Guys you can go to the Pokemon League and take on the Elite Four, these Trainers are among the best Trainers in the Region, and after you defeat them you are handed with the most difficult fight of the League, the Champion once you defeat him / her, you are available to do the after game.

   Now, the after game is a subject not in the basics of the game, so I'll be covering the subject on a later article.

   So now you know what your objective is let's explain what are the real basics of the game. Tomorrow we will focus on Part 2

  Hey guys since I know we all like to play Pokemon, but not always have pour handheld with us, here are some emulators for your Android smartphone so you can always play our beloved game!

   To emulate Nintendo Ds I can only recommend one emulator, its a paid one, but its the best out there it is very fast and has a really good support for Roms: Drastic Ds Emulator is an amazing emulator and you can download it by clicking on the name, and if you don't feel like paying before trying they have a demo version too: Drastic Ds Emulator Demo, if you really really don't want to spend anything at all I somewhat recommend nds4droid is a decent emulator with some drawbacks, but is the best free one out there.

   For the Nintendo GameBoy series we have two sections, one for the Gamboy Advance and one for the GameBoy / GameBoy Color:

   For the GameBoy Advance emulator we have My Boy! GBA Emulator a really solid emulator with a ton of features, but it also has a free version My Boy! Free, both of them are amazing they play really smooth and have incredible support for most devices another free option is John GBA Lite which is another solid choice with basically the same feautures.

   As for the GameBoy and GameBoy Color we have My Old Boy! which is a paid version with various features and its free counter part My Old Boy! Free, with not so many features but the same compatibility as the above, and another option is John GBC Lite which is equally solid as the My Boy! versions.

   So there are they guys, if you want to have your favorite Pokemon games on Android make sure to check them out and just an advise, you need to have the Roms of the games you want to play, for legal reasons I can't supply you with them.

   So our first Pokemon selected for our Weekly Strategy is Snorlax, it is an underestimated Pokemon in the UnderUsed tier, and it can use this to its advantage as a fantastic win condition and slow wallbreaker. Having base 160 HP and 110 Special Defense allows Snorlax to act as a sponge to many threats including Choice Specs Hydreigon. Access to Curse and Rest allows it to become one of the best win conditions in the game after Fighting-types have been dealt with. A great base 110 Attack is ideal for a Choice Band set, while Assault Vest can be used a to maximize Snorlax's Special bulk.

   A fantastic ability in Thick Fat allows it to take on Fire-type and Ice-type attacks with relative ease. Unfortunately, a subpar base 65 Defense stat means that Snorlax sometimes needs to shift some EVs towards bulking it up on the Physical side against Pokemon such as Honchkrow or Crobat, and horrid base 30 Speed means you have to rely on sponge-and-attack tactics. Even when you analize Snorlax, you can choose a wide range of moves and strategies, today I'll be covering an Assault Vest set.

Snorlax #143

Ability: Thick Fat.

Item: Assault Vest.

Effort Values: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 SpD.

Nature: Adamant.

Suggested Moveset:
-Body Slam / Return
-Pursuit / Crunch 
-Earthquake
-Fire Punch

   Return is a powerful STAB option, 2HKOing all frailer attackers and doing decent damage to moderately bulky threats such as Mega Blastoise and Crobat. Body Slam is a reliable but less powerful STAB option with a 30% chance to paralyze. Pursuit is great against Psychic-types as well as Chandelure and other Ghost-types if you predict a switch, but Crunch is a more powerful move, Crunch is useful in one-on-one situations where the opponent wants to commit with a Ghost- or Psychic-type. Earthquake is a great coverage move, hitting the common UnderUsed Fire-, Electric-, Steel-, and Poison-types for super effective damage. Fire Punch is useful against Forretress and other Bug- and Grass-types. 

   The Assault Vest allows Snorlax to become the perfect special sponge, as the strongest special Fighting move, Focus Blast, is an unreliable move to hit Snorlax with. This set maximizes Attack with an Adamant nature in order to hit as hard as possible, this set also maximizes Snorlax's defensive capabilities, helping it tank physical attacks such as Superpower from Life Orb Hydreigon or Honchkrow. Snorlax's huge base 160 HP and 110 Special Defense allows it to avoid investing in more special bulk or HP, instead investing the EVs into its Defense. Thick Fat is a wonderful ability that weakens Fire- and Ice-type attacks by 50%, giving Snorlax two added resistances, further increasing Snorlax's dependability against Fire-type spam strategies.

   Snorlax is a very decent wallbreaker that can survive any non-super effective hit. It is best used as a sponge-and-hit tactician. Fundamentally, it relieves prediction due to Assault Vest, allowing it to use its optimal attacking options. Snorlax partners well with Crobat, as it can sponge all Fighting-type attacks with complete ease. Alomomola also partners well with it and Crobat by relieving some pressure of predicting. Snorlax appreciates cleric support from Florges, as Florges resists U-turn, resists Fighting-type moves, has Protect for scouting, and has Moonblast to check almost all Fighting-type threats in the UnderUsed metagame.

   Immunity can be used as an ability to prevent Toxic users from gaining the upper hand, but this is generally outclassed by Thick Fat. A mono-attacking RestTalk + Whirlwind set can be used. Lum Berry or Leftovers can also be used instead of Assault Vest, but the Defense EVs should be moved to HP. Self-Destruct can also be used in place of Fire Punch. Wild Charge and Heavy Slam are both interesting attacking options, but they are generally outclassed by Snorlax's main attacking options. Seed Bomb is an option to hit Ground- and Water-types.

   Hey guys, I'm home right now and while playing on my 3Ds I had to go out, and then a thought crossed my mind... Why can't I play Pokemon on Android / iOS? And while that idea took shape in my head, of course my first thought was to download an emulator, which I have, and right here and right now I can recommend you guys some emulators to play Pokemon at the end of the post. But getting back to the point, we have seen how Nintendo and Gamefreak never were really into bringing Pokemon outside of the Nintendo handheld devices there were some exceptions with Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Stadium 2, Pokemon Battle Revolution and XD Gale of Darkness those are the ones I have on the top of my mind, but as you can see Pokemon never had a game outside of Nintendo handhelds and even less outside of a Nintendo console.


   After realizing that I wanted a game out of the usual environment, it made complete sense that Nintendo would release a Pokemon game for Android / iOS since the growth of the mobile gaming platform has been enourmos over the past few years, and they want to take advantage of that huge section of the market they are currently not reaching, and as we all now, almost every person has a smartphone, but not everyone has a Nintendo GameBoy, Ds or 3Ds to play their favorite games, and Nintendo knows that, besides being reluctant on realising a mobile game for years we Pokemon fans around the world can finally crest knowing that even if limited we will have a Pokemon game for smartphones whenever we want to enjoy the franchise we all love and play.

   Its true that PokemonGo wont the be the style most of us are used to play at least from the early images... But a new take on Pokemon can be very good and refreshing for the franchise and it will help to reach a much bigger audience, we hope that Nintendo delivers a good quality product with PokemonGo, and that it continues to reach into unexplored grounds so we can all have a good taste of Pokemon in our lifes.

   But for the more casual fans of Pokemon that don't own a Nintendo Ds / 3Ds I can recommend you guys some very good emulators for your Android smartphone, sadly iOS users can't see a similar way to play their favorite games, but for us that have an Android phone and love Pokemon, be sure to check out this post to know more about some of the best emulators:
