Week 3 of our weekly strategy... had a it of a stop, but now we are coming back! sadly, for personal purposes we´ll have two sets every month... Either way! we are here and we have Beedrill with us, now make sure to vote if you want a specific Pokemon or just tune in for a random one. Now let us begin.

Beedrill shines in the UU metagame thanks to its Mega Evolution, which, by having amazing Attack and Speed stats besides Adaptability, grants it the strongest U-turn in the tier, letting it pummel offensive and defensive teams alike, that´s why it can grab offensive momentum with very little trouble, which makes it one of the best offensive Pokemon in the tier. However, it has a bit of a limited movepool aside from its STAB attacks, and it only access to Knock Off and Drill Run for coverage moves. It also has pitiful defensive stats and mediocre defensive typing. It also is forced to run Protect to Mega Evolve and get the Speed boost without taking damage, as its Speed before Mega Evolving barely decent. Despite these flaws, it still is a fantastic Pokemon, and it should always be considered when making an offensive team in this tier or even OU.

#15 Beedrill

Ability: Swarm or Sniper. Gets Adaptability when Mega evolving.

Item: Beedrillite.

Effort Values: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe.

Nature: Adamant / Jolly.

Sugested Moveset:
-U-turn
-Protect
-Poison Jab
-Drill Run / Knock Off

U-turn is Beedrill's main STAB move, as it nets it offensive momentum with little trouble and is useful to get some chip damage. Protect is used so that you can get the Speed boost from Mega Evolving without taking any damage and is also useful to scout for foes' movesets and potential Choiced Pokemon . Poison Jab is your strongest attack, as well as your main Poison-type STAB, and it has a fairly high chance to poison the target, which works well in conjunction with Protect to rack up damage on the foe while scouting for its moveset. Knock Off hits Ghost-types such as Chandelure for super effective damage and also cripples Pokemon reliant on their item. Drill Run is mainly used for coverage, as it hits Poison- and Steel-types that resist your STAB attacks, such as Tentacruel, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, and Lucario, for super effective damage.

A standard EV spread is used to max out Beedrill's offensive prower, with the remaining EVs in Defense so it can maintain an odd HP number. Jolly nature is used so you can Speed tie with other base 145 Speed Pokemon, such as Mega Sceptile and opposing Beedrill. An Adamant nature can be used instead to give a little extra power.

Protect should be used the first turn Beedrill is sent out if the opposing Pokemon is faster, as it lets you safely Mega Evolve and attain the Speed boost without taking damage, scouting the foe's moveset in the process. Although it has poor defensive stats, a decent defensive typing gives it 4x resistances it can use to switch in. However, some powerful physical moves such as Mienshao's Reckless High Jump Kick have a shot at 2HKOing it, although you can use Protect to scout and potentially make Mienshao take crash damage. It can grab momentum with little trouble thanks to its strong U-turn and high Speed stat, so pairing it with entry hazard users is a good idea. Keeping entry hazards off your side of the field is appreciated, as you will be switching out more than often due to U-turn and can be KOed by priority users after Stealth Rock damage.

You can run X-Scissor can be used over U-turn if you feel that keeping up offensive momentum is not necessary, as it hits for more damage. Swords Dance can be used to boost your attack immensely, but Beedrill usually does not have the room to run this and finds it difficult to set up. If it does manage to set up, it can still get revenge killed easily by priority and Choice Scarf users, so running Swords Dance is not usually worth the loss of coverage. Toxic Spikes can be used to wear down some of Beedrill's switch-ins, such as Alomomola and Porygon2, making it easier for you to deal with them later in the game. Pursuit is an option to cause significant damage to fleeing Ghost-types and Psychic-types, such as Reuniclus and Chandelure.

So, here you have a simple set for Beedrill, use it, share it and make sure to follow me on Twitter at @Pkmgecko for news and heads up for the new content

So as an 18 year old, loving Pokemon and following dreams and hobbies are kind of a normal thing in my life, a good relationship is always good for leating things out when you are too stressed, but some of those things can´t be solved by talking.

As a Pokemon Fan I see almost every time a face of rejection or weirdness when I tell people that I enjoy to play the game, and even take that play into a competitive level via Battle Spot, but almost every person never understands my affection to the franchise, and I am not surprised. Usually in Video Games if they are not about a mature theme, being for example killing or exploring, real life characters or stuff like that, older people think is everything else is childlish and you are a grown up, that you should be more mature and more.

Those very same people tend to forget that when they were younger maybe my age or a bit less, they were also following their hobbys and singer or band, the hottest actor / actress, and for some reason they left those thoughts, maybe it was because of their jobs, or a family member told them to "grow up"...

The point is that no matter what other say about you or the things you like, nothing else will make you who you really want to be if you don´t do what you love. So for all the Pokemon Fans out there, we are a great community, we play for fun and for glory with each other, and you know people who say we are adults playing a kids game, we don´t need to prove them wrong, because only we know that Pokemon is not just a simple kids game and above all else we Love It!

If you have friends that have had the same issue or they are going trough something similar, show them your support, show them what a great community we are, and if you can... Make sure to follow me on Twitter @Pkmgecko and subscribe to the Blog for more of the franchise we all love. Thank you all so very much, till the next post.

Pokemon Moves.

There are 3 types of moves in the Pokemon games, the first type is Status inflicting moves, which have two ways of working, they inflict a Status on your Pokemon, being Confusion, Burns, Sleep, Freeze or Sleep and the other way they could work is by lowering or raising Stats, some moves work by doing both.

The other type of moves are Attacking moves, these are the most common moves you see, they focus on inflicitng damage on the opposing Pokemon, this category has two subcategories being Physical Attacks and Special Attacks. Physical attacks reside on doing damage to the opposing Pokemon based on your Attack Stat and their Defense Stat. And Special Attacks focus on doing damage taking your Special Attack Stat and your opponets Special Defense Stat, while some moves can be based on your Special Attack but, doing damage on your opponents Defense Stat, being for example Psyshock.

Some Attacking moves also have a chance of inflicting Statuses on your opponents Pokemon or even yours. but they only have a chance and that is determined by a percentage fixed into the move itself.

Attacking moves deal more damage when used by a Pokemon that shares the same typing as the move being called a STAB Move, that means Same Type Attack Bonus, and is a small boost the move gets, that way inflicting more damage when used.

And the last type of moves covered are Weather changing moves, now this are just four moves, and they are Sunny Day, Rain Dance, Sandstorm and Hail, these do one thing and one thing only set up weather inside a battle, the weather can affect a Pokemon Battle as well, while being in Rain Dance and Sunny day, Water and Fire type Attacks become more powerfull respectively and becoming less effective the other way around. Some Pokemon even take advantage of weather with either Abylities or specific moves that have low accuracy on a normal situation, but have their accuracy improved in the right weather.

That is everything you need to know about Pokemon Moves.

As always I really appreciate all the support and make sure to share with your friends!

Typings and Matchups

Every Pokemon has a Type and it determines what is goin to be strong or weak against, Pokemon moves also have aa Typing and as well it determines what is going to be strong or weak against certain Pokemon, As of today in generation 6, there are 18 types and those are:

Each of these types have their strengths and weaknesses and you can learn them, or know them by using a simple chart like this one:

On the chart the Attacking Type side is for the type of the move you are using and the Defending Type is the type of Pokemon you are using it against, the 0x means that the Pokemon will not recieve any damage from that attack, wich translates to the Defending Pokemon "not being affected" by it, the 1/2x means the defending Pokemon will recieve half of the damage from that hit, being "not very effective", the 1x means that the Defending Pokemon is reciveing neutral damage, and the 2x means that the Pokemonis recieveng twice the damage translating it into a "very effective" move.

Since not all Pokemon have only one typing the chart also serves to calculate the strengths and weaknesses of your Pokemon, for example a Rock and Steel type will recive not 1/2 but 1/4 of the damage from a Normal type move, a Fighting and Dark type will recieve 0 damage from a Phsychic type attack, that is beacause despite Fighting beaing week to it, Dark is inmune to it and so 2 x 0 is , also if you recieve a Fire attack while being an Ice and Grass type you will recive 4x times the damage, because both types are weak to fire, it's really simple math, you just multiply to get your result, and so some Pokemon have more weaknesses than others, but also more resistances.

Now that you know about Pokemon Typings we can have a look at Pokemon Moves right here in this next part: Part 5 Pokemon Moves

Week 2 of our Weekly Strategy series... and we are taking last week's vote for Stoutland for this week, remember that if you want to vote for the Pokemon you want to see next, leave your comment bellow or tweet me at @Pkmgecko with the hashtag #weeklystrategy and name the Pokemon you want. Now let's get started.

It faces lot of competition from other offensive Normal-types in the NU tier: Kangaskhan, Zangoose, Tauros, and Bouffalant outperform it in almost every role, however Stoutland stands out as one of NU's two Sand Rush sweepers and boasts good coverage, power, and decent bulk. Unfortunately, sand is not such a great playstyle because of its reliance on matchup and it cannot beat rain or sun teams easily. The best Stoutland can do is being a Sand Rush Sweeper, and I'll be covering just that.
Stoutland #508

Ability: Sand Rush.

Item: Choice Band.

Effort Values: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe.

Nature: Adamant.

Suggested Moveset:
-Return.
-Crunch.
-Superpower.
-Pursuit / Play Rough.

Return is a powerful STAB move that hits very hard. Crunch is a coverage move to hit Ghost-types. Superpower weakens or outright KOes most Rock- or Steel-types such as Rhydon, Regirock, Probopass, Ferroseed, and Klinklang. Pursuit is a great option to trap Ghost- and Psychic-type Pokemon such as Mismagius, Rotom, and Jynx, but Play Rough is an alternative to hit Fighting types, mainly Gurdurr.

The EVs maximize Attack and Speed. An Adamant nature is used to hit as hard as possible, allowing Stoutland to get some important KOs. For example, Adamant Stoutland always 2HKOes Gurdurr with Return after Stealth Rock damage. And Jolly nature allows you to outrun non-Choice Scarf Adamant Sawk and Timid Ludicolo outside of sand, but you should not attempt to sweep outside of sand anyway. Choice Band is used for maximum power; a Life Orb can be considered, but the power drop is quite noticeable, and also cuts into Stoutland's above-average bulk.

Sand should always be set up before triying to sweep. In addition, you should try to predict switch-ins to Stoutland where appropriate to avoid wasting precious sand turns. It is better to eliminate Rock-, Steel-, and Ghost-types before sweeping with it so that you can spam Return. Stoutland can be played as either a wallbreaker or a sweeper; it can either wear down bulky opponents for its teammates or sweep with sand up once its checks and counters are KOed.

Hippopotas with Sand Stream is a compulsory teammate because you are mediocre, Sandlash is another good Sand Rush sweeper, working together with Stoutland to break down opposing teams. Cacturne can be considered on sand teams thanks to its ability, Sand Veil, and Spikes, which aid its teammates. Other entry hazard users, such as Garbodor, Crustle, and Rhydon, are good teammates to help you grab more KOs. For example, Stealth Rock and a layer of Spikes ensure 2HKOs on Gourgeist-XL and Rhydon with the appropriate move. Rock-types are good teammates that take advantage of sand's Special Defense boost. In particular, Carracosta makes use of the boost extremely well, in conjunction with good physical bulk and Solid Rock to set up Shell Smash. Pursuit users such as Liepard and Skunktank are good teammates for their ability to trap and KO troublesome Ghost-types that prevent Stoutland from freely using Return.

Sleep Talk is a good alternative to Play Rough that allows you to absorb sleep. A bulky tank set with Intimidate and Thunder Wave can be considered. A Choice Band Scrappy set can be run, but it faces competition from the faster Kangaskhan. Stoutland gets Roar, but it would generally prefer to attack rather than phaze. Stoutland also gets Facade to switch into and take advantage of status moves, although it is quite situational.

And that's the set we have for this week, remember to follow me on Twitter and Subscribe to the Blogs Newsletter to  recieve everything new on your e-mail.

   As alwayss thanks for reading.

How do Pokemon Grow Stronger.

As you progress through the game, and battle, your Pokemon will gain Experience Ponits, you can gain experience points by three simple ways:

   a) Defeating Wild Pokemon, when you faint a wild Pokemon, all tof your Pokemons involved in the fight will recieve a share of the experience earned. In Generation 6, you also gain experience by capturing Pokemon.

   b) Battling Trainers, usually battling trainer Pokemons give a bit more Experience Points than just battling with wild ones, but it's also a bit more challenging.

   c) Leaving your Pokemon at the Day Care, when you leave your Pokemon at the Day Care, they'll get experience points based on the amount of steps you take, the more steps you take, the more experience your Pokemon get, this has a small drawback though, they charge you 100 Poke for evey Level your Pokemon grows and the base rate is 100 Poke.

When they gather a certain amount of experience, your Pokemon will Level Up, when Leveling Up your Pokemons Stats grow, the stats of your Pokemons are divided into HP (Hit Points), Atk (Attack), Def (Defense), Spe. Atk (Special Attack), Spe. Def (Special Defense) and Speed, This Stats are the values your Pokemon has in that field, the higher the value the better the Stat. As well as this, your Pokemon may also learn new moves, a Pokemon can only have 4 moves at a time, and when learning a new one, you can choose whether to keep your old moves or to delete an old to make space.

Some Pokemon when reached a determined Level will evolve, but they can also evolve by performing certain special actions, or when met a specific criteria, when Pokemon evolve they gain a big boost to their Stats as well as changing form, you can of course cancel the evolution for some reasons, for example a basic Pokemon will learn a certain move at a lower level than its evolution, but other times only the evolutions get certain moves, it is up to you to decide if you want or not to evolve. and also, sometimes the evolution gain another typing to them, but since I haven't told you what Typings are, please read this next article: Pokemon Typing Matchups

How to Catch a Pokemon.

Even though you and your Rival recieve a starter Pokemon in the beginning of the game, you can't go on such a big journey with only one Pokemon, and your Rival won't do it either, you have to catch more Pokemons!

You can find Pokemons in different places and eaach place has a different diversity of them and you can find them in various ways, the most usual way is to walk on tall grass, but you can also encounter them while walking on caves, fishing or even surfing, special Pokemons are set as static encounters and they don't change, when you find a wild Pokemon you'll engage in a battle. At the start, catching Pokemons is a fairly easy thing to do, but as you progress through the game the catches become more difficult and rarer, as for what you use to catch Pokemon are called PokeBalls, these have variants and each one has more chances to catch Pokemons.

The harder the Pokemon is to catch depends on several things:

   a) Its Catch Rate, every Pokemon has a base catch rate and the lower it is the harder the catch.

   b) The Amount of HP it has, the more HP the Pokemon has the harder it is going to be to catch, so lowering the Hp before trying to  catch the Pokemon increases your chances of getting it.

   c) The PokeBall you are using, the standard PokeBall is good for the simple tasks, but for other works we also have Great Balls and for even harder works use Ultra Balls, we also have more PokeBalls more specialized which I cover in this article.

   d) The Status you inflict on the Pokemon you are trying to catch makes it easier to capture, the most effective ones are Sleep and Freeze, and then Paralysis, Burn and Posion.

Now that  you know how to catch a Pokemon let's look at how to make your Pokemon grow stronger in Part 3

Getting Started.

Pokemon is a fighting strategy game inhabited by creatures called Pokemon (short for Pocket Monster), these creatures are the center of whole game, they have different typings depending on the Pokemon and these typings have strenghts and weaknesses, as you advance through the game your Pokemons will grow stronger and the challenges as well, the whole point of the game is simply to:

   a) Beat the Pokemon Gym Challenge, in which you'll have to travel the region meeting new Pokemons, trainers and cities, find the Gyms and beat their leaders in order to recieve a badge showing that you conquered that Gym, each reagion has 8 Gyms and each one is completly different from the others.

   b) Beat your Rival, along your travel you will have a Rival, he or she battles you along the way to test your skills and try to beat you.

   c) Defeat the Bad Guys, each reagion has a Bad team which plans to rule the world or conquer the Region, whichever their master plan is, your job as the protagonist is to defeat them by eventually beating their Leader.

   d) Become the Champion of your Region, once you clear the Pokemon Gym Challenge and you defeat the Bad Guys you can go to the Pokemon League and take on the Elite Four, these Trainers are among the best Trainers in the Region, and after you defeat them you are handed with the most difficult fight of the League, the Champion once you defeat him / her, you are available to do the after game.

Now, the after game is a subject not in the basics of the game, so I'll be covering the subject on a later article.

So now you know what your objective is let's explain what are the real basics of the game. Tomorrow we will focus on Part 2

Hey guys since I know we all like to play Pokemon, but not always have pour handheld with us, here are some emulators for your Android smartphone so you can always play our beloved game!

To emulate Nintendo Ds I can only recommend one emulator, its a paid one, but its the best out there it is very fast and has a really good support for Roms: Drastic Ds Emulator is an amazing emulator and you can download it by clicking on the name, and if you don't feel like paying before trying they have a demo version too: Drastic Ds Emulator Demo, if you really really don't want to spend anything at all I somewhat recommend nds4droid is a decent emulator with some drawbacks, but is the best free one out there.

For the Nintendo GameBoy series we have two sections, one for the Gamboy Advance and one for the GameBoy / GameBoy Color:

For the GameBoy Advance emulator we have My Boy! GBA Emulator a really solid emulator with a ton of features, but it also has a free version My Boy! Free, both of them are amazing they play really smooth and have incredible support for most devices another free option is John GBA Lite which is another solid choice with basically the same feautures.

As for the GameBoy and GameBoy Color we have My Old Boy! which is a paid version with various features and its free counter part My Old Boy! Free, with not so many features but the same compatibility as the above, and another option is John GBC Lite which is equally solid as the My Boy! versions.

So there are they guys, if you want to have your favorite Pokemon games on Android make sure to check them out and just an advise, you need to have the Roms of the games you want to play, for legal reasons I can't supply you with them.

If you like the site and you like what you read, make sure to spread the word and follow us on social media, share us with your friends, but most of all thanks for reading!
